ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ed Rainey was born in Ypsilanti, MI and grew up in rural northwest Tennessee. He received his BFA in Sculpture at MCA in 1980. He currently resides in Memphis. An extensive list of exhibitions includes solo shows, both locally and in New York City, Los Angeles and Birmingham, MI, with reviews in Art of America, Art Forum,The New York Times, The Commercial Appeal, the Memphis Flyer, the Atlanta Constitution, and Bomb, a magazine of the arts. He was also featured in Interview magazine, which was founded by Andy Warhol. He showed with Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg in the “The Right Foot Show,” San Francisco International Airport, San Francisco, CA. Received the Engelhard Award from the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston.
